When not traveling, the pontiff of Sri Kaniyooru Matha performs his daily services to Sri Krishna at Sri Madhva Mandira in the temple complex. These services are open to public viewing. Contact us or Sri Kaniyooru Matha to find out if the pontiff is (or will be) at Sri Pajaka Kshetra on a particular day. People frequently choose Sri Pajaka Kshetra as the site of traditional rituals. Aksharaabhyaasa and Upanayana are two of the more common rituals performed here. Aksharaabhyaasa is a ritual performed to symbolically initiate a child's education. In this ritual, the child practices writing the symbol Om on a tablet that is covered with rice (or sand). At Sri Pajaka Kshetra, the child gets the unique opportunity to begin writing on the same tablet Sri Madhvacharya began his writing. Thus, Sri Pajaka Kshetra is the most appropriate location for this ritual. Upanayana is a coming of age ritual for boys. In this ritual, the boy receives the sacred prayer to Gayithri, the goddess of all beings. He also becomes eligible to receive formal education from a guru (teacher). Performing Upanayana at Sri Pajaka Kshetra, where Sri Madhvacharya had his Upanayana, provides a good foundation for a boy's life. Devotees may offer the following services at Sri Pajaka Kshetra. Some of these services require prior arrangement. Limited lodging and meals are available by prior arrangement.
